PHILADELPHIA (March 10, 2024) -- Sophomore
Vharsha Dinesh completed a strong weekend at the 2024 National Collegiate Individual Championships Sunday, as she earned the Halloran East Division Consolation title to finish her 2023-24 season from Arlen Spector Squash Center.
Tufts No. 1 player for the entire season shook off an initial loss in the first round of the Holleran East Division Friday to win her next three matches. After falling to Lucy Stephenson of Princeton University Friday afternoon, Dinesh bested Rhea Pandit of Williams College Friday to move into the semifinals of the consolation ladder.
On Saturday, Dinesh knocked off Sophia Koehler in three sets to move into the finals Sunday against Laila Selim of William Smith College. In the final, Dinesh controlled the action on Court 16 inside the Arlen Spector Squash Center, earning a strong 11-6, 9-11, 11-7, 11-9 for the consolation title.
Dinesh and the Jumbos finish the 2023-24 season after earning a spot in the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) finals for the third straight season.
