PHILADELPHIA, PA (March 2, 2024) - The No. 12 ranked Tufts University women's squash team faced off against No. 11 Dartmouth College Saturday afternoon at the Arlen Specter US Squash Center in Philadelphia in the consolation bracket of the CSA National Collegiate Team Championships.
The Jumbos (12-9) played their third match in three days as they were defeated 6-3 by the Big Green. Junior
Aleezah Burhan earned a win as she defeated Ellie Berke in four sets 11-9, 11-9, 7-11, 11-9. At the No. 7 spot, senior
Sanjana Vissapragada defeated Zayna Usman in four sets 6-11, 11-9, 11-3, 11-4. At the No. 9 spot, freshman
Chloe Bergam defeated Aubrey Lennon in straight sets 11-8, 14-12, 11-9.
Sophomore
Vharsha Dinesh was slated in the No. 1 spot for the Jumbos and faced off against M.C.R. Velasquez. She won the second and fourth sets, but ended up dropping the fifth set 11-6, 7-11, 12-10, 5-11, 7-11. Junior
Nieve Monderer battled hard against Emily Schuster at the No. 6 spot. Monderer won the first and second sets, but fell in the last three sets to lose in five 9-11, 11-13, 11-8, 12-10, 2-11.
The Jumbos had a great season. They made it to their third straight NESCAC final. They beat eight teams inside the CSA (College Squash Association) Top 20, achieved the second-best record in the NESCAC during the regular season, and held a top 20 spot in the CSA.
They will now compete in the CSA Individual Championships, which will start Friday, March 8.
