MIDDLEBURY, VT (January 25, 2025) -- The No. 11 Tufts University women's squash team won their fourth straight match Saturday afternoon, knocking off No. 16 Middlebury College 7-2 in play from the Bostwick Family Squash Courts.
Tufts (5-5) played an extremely difficult schedule to start the season, but those tough battles are starting to pay off as the Jumbos got to .500 for the first time since the first match of the season.
Junior
Vharsha Dinesh picked up her third straight win while moving to 4-4 on the campaign with a strong three-game win over Lindsey Burnham 11-8, 11-7 and 11-4. Sophomore
Maria Arsenieva moved to 4-3 at the No. 3 spot this season with a quick 19-minute win over Sabrina Schwarz with scores of 11-3, 11-9 and 11-5.
First-year
Anika Goyal won her fourth straight match at No. 5, sweeping Isabella Ronda 11-6, 11-7 and 11-8 while upping her season mark to 4-5. Senior
Aleezah Burhan kept her winning ways going at No. 6, winning her fourth consecutive match to improve ot 5-5 with a 6-11, 11-4, 12-10, 11-4 win over Mariana Reedich.
Senior
Nieve Monderer chalked up her team-best sixth win of the season at No. 7, dominating action over Madeline Schwarz with scores of 11-4, 11-4 and 11-3. Monderer is now 6-3 on the season.
Chloe Bergam evened her season record at 3-3 this year at No. 8, shaking off a push from Margaux Comai for an 11-5, 8-11 11-4, 11-6 win. First-year
Indira Moshi was also in command all match, as she picked up an 11-3, 11-1 and 11-5 victory against Abbie Peterson at No. 9.
The Panthers (9-4) got a win at No. 2 by Abby Holding over
Sohni Vermani with a 16-18, 11-7, 11-6, 2-1 win after a retirement by Vermani. Aanvi Anand also chalked up a win at No. 4, outlasting
Riddhi Joshi 11-8, 11-6, 10-12, 5-11, 11-5.
Tufts will be right back in action Sunday afternoon, battling No. 15 Williams College in Williamstown, MA at noon.
