MEDFORD, MA (January 31, 2025) -- The No. 11 Tufts University women's squash team begun a busy weekend at home Friday afternoon against No. 18 Bates College, fighting off the visiting Bobcats for a 7-2 win in the first of three matches from Tufts Squash Center this weekend.
Sophomore
Maria Arsenieva was pushed all the way at the No. 1 spot on Friday evening, but the Tufts player was able to come away with the win as she knocked off Navya Gupta 8-11, 11-9, 11-2, 9-11, 11-7 for his first win of the season at the top position. Senior
Riddhi Joshi rolled to her second straight win with an 11-3, 11-2, 11-3 win over Grace Flaherty at the No. 2 spot, while
Aleezah Burhan moved up to No. 3 for an 11-3, 11-6 and 11-9 win over Scarlett Hine at No. 3.

Nieve Monderer won her team-best seventh match at the No. 4 position with an 11-8, 11-8, 13-11 score over Yasmine Khan, and first-year
Mia Kim moved to 2-0 on the campaign with an 11-9, 11-8 and 11-9 victory over Savannah Thomson at the No. 6 spot. Fellow classmate
Anika Parr also stayed undefeated at 2-0 this year with an 11-5, 11-7, 11-8 win against Angelina Amastal, and sophomore
Sora Karanja toppled Neha Taneja 11-6, 11-7, 11-5 at the No. 8 position.
Bates' wins came at No. 5 and No. 9, as Tia Billimoria won a five-game thriller over
Sonya Bajaj 11-7, 11-8, 9-11, 7-11 and 11-7 at the fifth spot. At No. 9, Dainalee Velez was a little too much for
Bridget Schutt as the Bobcat player earned an 11-8, 2-11, 3-11, 11-8 and 11-7 win.
Tufts (6-6) will now look forward to Senior Day on Saturday at 1 p.m. against Bowdoin College, as the Jumbos will honor its three seniors
