MEDFORD, MA (January 9, 2025) -- For the first time in its existence, the Walter Camp Football Foundation released a Division III All-America Team and Tufts University sophomore cornerback
Ty Richardson was named was one of just four defensive backs on the squad.
The Walter Camp All-American Team, which consisted of just one team and 11 offensive players and 11 defensive players along with specialists, was picked for the first time in 2025. Richardson was the only sophomore named to the squad, while he was one of three New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) honorees as he joined Middlebury College's Thomas Perry (OL) and Hamilton College's Tighe Hoey (P).
Richardson has now been honored on three different Division III All-America lists, as he as also honored as an AP All-American and a American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) All-American as well.
Richardson finished the 2024 season with a New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) leading six interceptions, totaling 116 return yards as well. He posted two interceptions in the season-opening win against Bowdoin College on September 14, and followed that up with picks against Amherst College, Bates College, Williams College and Middlebury College. The Jumbos won every game in which Richardson had an interception, while the sophomore also added 28 tackles and four more pass break-ups.
The sophomore defensive back was named All-NESCAC First Team after his amazing season, in which he helped the Tufts defense to the second best passing defense in the league, allowing only 177.3 yards per game. Tufts scoring defense was third in the NESCAC as well.
