CAMBRIDGE, MA (October 26, 2025) – The Tufts University women's sailing team capped an excellent fall season today with its fifth-place finish at the Victorian Urn Trophy for the New England Fall Championship.
The fifth-place finish for the women's team is the best score at either a fall (Urn Trophy) or spring (Reed Trophy) New England Intercollegiate Sailing Association (NEISA) Women's Fleet Race Championship event in 12 years. Tufts had a fifth-place effort at the spring 2013 NEISA Women's Championship.
This tops off a women's season that also saw a ninth-place finish at the Atlantic Coast Championship (ACC) finals on October 12, which is the best-ever finish for Tufts at a women's finals (ACC or Intercollegiate Sailing Association Nationals) since the implementation of the semifinal/final format for each event.
Today Tufts moved up from seventh place after Saturday's action to a fifth-place finish at the Victorian Urn event. Six races in A and B divisions were held on Sunday for a weekend total of 12 on each side. Tufts' fifth-place final score of 143 included a 63 in A's and an 80 in B's.
Junior crew
Reddin Kehrli joined sophomore skipper
Sophia Hubbard for a third-place finish overall in A's. They were second in Sunday's second start, won the fifth A race of the day and finished in third place in today's final race.
For B division, the Jumbo pair of first-year skipper
Maddie Janzen with senior crew
Lilly Ladd were fifth for the weekend. Today's B results featured a third to start the day's racing and included all six races with top-six scores.
This was the conclusion of the Tufts Women's Sailing fall season. The Jumbos will resume their 2025-26 schedule with spring events beginning in March.
