MEDFORD, MA (November 15, 2025) – The Tufts University women's squash team opened its 2025-26 season at home today with a rousing 5-4 victory against Columbia University on Sunday afternoon.
It's a win against a higher-ranked Ivy League opponent for Tufts. The Jumbos came into the season ranked #13 in the College Squash Association poll, while Columbia is #10.
Anika Goyal earned a decisive win for Tufts in the fourth match, defeating Eugenia Li 11-6, 11-6, 7-11, 12-10 to give the Jumbos the victory.
Ella Hill had put Tufts ahead 4-3 with a quick victory at #3, topping Amal Izhar 11-6, 11-6, 11-4. However, the #7 match went to the Lions to tie the score at 4-4 and set up the exciting finish.
Vharsha Dinesh was dominant in a #1 victory for the Jumbos. She defeated Yeheni Kuruppu 11-3, 11-7, 11-9 which had given Tufts a 3-2 advantage at the time.
Chloe Bergam helped the Jumbos get started with a five-game victory at #5 in the first round of matches today. She trailed after three, but rallied for a 4-11, 11-6, 7-11, 11-7, 11-9 win.
Tufts' other victory today came in the #9 match where
Indira Moshi won 3–1 against Cynthia Yu after dropping the first game (8-11, 12-10, 14-12, 11-6).
The Jumbos will continue their opening weekend with a match at Trinity tomorrow starting at 1:00 PM.
