MEDFORD, MA (December 11, 2025) -- Head coach
Martha Whiting and her coaching staff were honored Thursday as the 2025 United Soccer Coaches (USC) Division III Region 1 Coaching Staff of the Year thanks to one of the best seasons in program history.
The Jumbos, who finished the year 18-2-3 while advancing to the NCAA Tournament Final Four and earning its second New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) title in program history, tied the program record for wins in a season with 18. Tufts was the NESCAC's top scoring squad this season with 53 goals, having a pair of USC All-Americans in senior
Elsi Aires and junior
Reese Birch. The Jumbos outscored teams this season 53-13 and finished with 14 shutouts during the 2025 campaign.

Elise Fengler and strength and conditioning coach Alex O'Keefe, helped lead this squad to its second NCAA semifinal appearance in three years. The Jumbos were one of the most sporting teams in the league, picking up only three yellow cards all season. Tufts also outscored teams 12-0 in the first four games of the NCAA Tournament before falling to Emory University in the semifinals 3-0.
Whiting just finished her 27th season as the head coach of the Tufts women's soccer team, having appeared in four NCAA Final Fours during her tenure while her 262 wins are the most in program history. The NESCAC title was also the first in 23 years for the Jumbos.
Whiting and her staff were also honored as the NESCAC Coaching Staff of the Year, and the national award will be announced in the coming days.
