MEDFORD, MA (December 3, 2025) -- Six players scored in double digits as the No. 23 Tufts University men's basketball team rolled past visiting Bridgewater State University 121-67 in non-conference action from Cousens Gymnasium Wednesday evening.
The game was never in doubt for the Jumbos (6-2), who won their sixth straight game and led for the entire game after junior
Zion Watt nailed a triple on the first possession of the game just 12 seconds in. With Tufts up 18-10, the Jumbos went on a 16-2 run to go up by 22 at 34-12 after a
Scott Gyimesi hook shot.
The lead would hover around 20 points for the remainder of the first half, as the Jumbos took a 54-35 edge into the locker room thanks a double-double in the opening frame by senior
Joshua Bernstein of 13 points and 11 rebounds.
The Jumbos would pull away in the second half, leading by as many as 55 in the frame, netting their highest point total since scoring 123 on Eastern Nazarene on January 27, 1983.
Watt would finish as the Jumbos' leading scorer, going for 18 points on 6-of-9 shooting from behind the three-point arc. Bernstein finished with a big double-double of 13 points, 16 rebounds and four blocks, while Gyimesi also tallied a doubles-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds on 5-of-10 shooting.
The bench netted 67 points for Tufts Wednesday night, led by the 15 points from senior
James Morakis as he was 5-for-11 overall while adding four helpers and three rebounds. Sophomore
Isaac Friedman had a career-high 14 points on 5-of-9 shooting, nailing four triples while throwing down a big two-handed flush late.
Junior
Jon Medley had a solid game in only 18 minutes, tallying six points, six assists, three rebounds and three steals, as
Evan Reeves had a career-high 10 points in 15 minutes as a reserve. Sophomore
Robbie Nyamwaya added seven points and six rebounds, classmate
Lukas Schmid also added eight points and first-year
Ian Randall played his first action with the Jumbos totaling seven points and four rebounds.
First-year
Griffin Linstra had his best game as a Jumbo, as he finished with six points, 10 rebounds and six assists in the win. Tufts posted 30 assists on the night on 43 made field goals, while dominating the glass 61-26. That turned into a 22-8 second-chance point edge for the Jumbos, while shooting a blistering 54.4 percent overall and 53.3 percent (16-30) from downtown.
The 16 made three-pointers were the most in a game for Tufts since making 17 against Bowdoin College on January 6, 2018.
Jake Olmstead had 20 points off the bench for Bridgewater State (1-6) to lead all scorers.
Tufts will host Lasell University Saturday at 3:30 p.m. in Cousens Gymnasium in non-conference action.
