HARTFORD, CT (February 8, 2025) -- The No. 11 Tufts University women's squash squad never trailed on Saturday in the 2025 New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) quarterfinals against No. 18 Bates College, as the second-seeded Jumbos blanked seventh-seed Bates College 9-0 in play from the George Kellner Squash Courts at Trinity College.
The Jumbos (9-6) move into the NESCAC Tournament semifinals Sunday, and will play No. 3 seed Amherst College at 9 a.m. for a shot to play in the finals later in the afternoon.
Tufts dropped just one game to the Bobcats (4-7) on the day at No. 1 singles, but the rest of the results were three-game sweeps. Junior
Vharsha Dinesh was a four-game winner over Navya Gupta with scores of 11-8, 8-11, 11-7 and 11-7, winning her seventh straight match to move to 8-4 this season.
Sophomore
Maria Arsenieva knocked off Grace Flaherty at No. 2 11-6, 12-10 and 11-7, while
Riddhi Joshi won her fifth straight outing with an 11-4, 11-2 and 11-4 victory over Scarlett Hine.
First-year
Anika Goyal knocked off Tia Billimoria 11-9, 11-6 and 11-5 at No. 4 to move to 7-6 this season, and senior
Aleezah Burhan upped her mark to 9-6 with an 11-6, 11-5 and 11-3 win over Savannah Thomson at No. 5.
Senior
Nieve Monderer allowed just seven points all match as she picked up her 10th win of the season, a team-high, with a 11-0, 11-1 and 11-6 decision over Angelina Amastal. Sophomore
Chloe Bergam also dominated in an 11-1, 11-4 and 11-1 win over Nena Teneja at No. 7, and
Indira Moshi rolled to a 11-0, 11-4, 11-3 victory at No. 8.
Tufts got a default win at No. 9 to complete the 9-0 victory.
The Jumbos will be in search of their fourth straight title match appearance on Sunday morning against Amherst College.
