PHILADELPHIA, PA (March 7, 2025) - The Tufts University women's squash team suffered defeat at the hands of Columbia in a hard fought match in the Alen Specter US Squash Center on Friday afternoon.
It was a back and forth day for both teams, indicated by the number nine match between Renee Chan and senior
Chloe Bergam. The match was a grueling five set affair, which saw Bergam take a heartbreaking defeat after dropping the final frame 7-11. First year
Indira Moshi took the first win of the day for Tufts, defeating Sophia Hu 3-1 by scores of 11-7, 14-12, 8-11 and 11-6. Senior
Aleezah Burhan took the next win for Tufts, although Columbia's Advita Sharma put up a strong fight to force the match to five sets.
First year
Sohni Vermani capped off the day for Tufts with a win from the number four position. She defeated Columbia's Eva Salzman by scores of 13-11, 11-6, 11-0 to claim the final victory for Tufts. Senior
Riddhi Joshi fought valiantly in the number three spot, but ultimately fell in five sets to Amal Izhar by scores of 11-8, 6-11, 12-14, 11-7, 10-12.
Tufts would ultimately suffer defeat as the number one and two positions were swept by Columbia in straight sets.
With the win, Columbia advances to the next round of the CSA Team Championships while Tufts sees their tournament journey come to an end.
