MEDFORD, MA (May 13, 2025) - Four Tufts University players have earned spots on the 2025 Academic All-District® Women's Tennis Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators (CSC). The award recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom.
The Jumbos receiving the honor are junior
Ellie Gershaw, sophomore
Natalie Hu, junior
Lucy Mitchell and senior
Sophie Wax. This recognition is the third for Wax and the first for the other three.
To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve on the team with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at her current institution. Eligible nominees need to be in the lineup for 70-percent of the total matches played by the team that includes team scores.
Gershaw (biology major), Hu (cognitive brain science), Mitchell (international relations) and Wax (biology) each contributed to head coach
Kate Bayard's Tufts squad that earned an NCAA Tournament berth this spring and is ranked #15 in the most recent Intercollegiate Tennis Association national poll.
The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes tennis honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. Select Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced on June 5.
