Melanie Woodbury joined junior
Lucy Mitchell on the All-NESCAC Second Team for singles.
Melanie Woodbury came into the squad this season and immediately became one of the top players, as she finished the season with a team-high 16 victories in 2024-25. She picked up five NESCAC victories on the season, while going 6-6 at the top spot this spring. Woodbury started her first season at Tufts with wins in seven of her first eight matches, making an appearance in the ITA Regional Quarterfinals. She then picked up big wins over No. 16 Williams College, #13 Amherst College twice and against ranked Southwestern University.
Mitchell came back from her semester abroad in the fall to immediately slot back into the lineup for the Jumbos, going 10-5 on the season in singles including an impressive 7-2 in the conference. Mitchell played mostly at No. 4, where she was 6-2 on the season while tallying three wins at No. 3 as well. Mitchell finished the season with wins in three of her last four matches and posted three-match win streaks three times this spring.
Sahana Raman of Middlebury was named the NESCAC Player of the Year honor while fellow Panther Elsie Van Wieren was selected as the NESCAC Rookie of the Year. Bowdoin senior Jamilah Karah was the recipient of the Senior Sportswoman of the Year and Polar Bear head coach Ben Lamanna was voted as the NESCAC Coaching Staff of the Year by his peers.
Tufts will travel to Bowdoin College Friday to take on Nichols College at 4:30 PM in the NCAA First Round at the Woodlands Club in Falmouth, Maine.
