CAMBRIDGE, MA (September 6, 2025) - The Tufts University women's sailing team enjoyed an excellent opening day to the 2025-26 season on Saturday at MIT's Toni Deutsch Trophy regatta.
Tufts had two boats in action, with the Jumbos 1 team placing fifth and Jumbos 2 taking seventh out of 17 teams through the first day at the event. Saturday's action included 10 races in A and B divisions.
Total scores for both teams through 10 events are 138 for Jumbos 1 (82 A division, 56 B division), and 170 for Jumbos 2 (80 A's, 90 B's). Roger Williams University leads the regatta with a 103 team score.
The Jumbos 1 team has senior
Ella Hubbard skippering with senior
Greta Klein as crew in A division. They are seventh in A's after three top-three finishes on Saturday, including winning the seventh start. The B division team for Jumbos 1 is first-year skipper
Maddie Janzen with senior crew
Lilly Ladd. They are fourth in B's, including winning the last two races of the day.
For Jumbos 2, A division has sophomore skipper
Sophia Hubbard with senior crew
Lilah Parker. They are sixth in the division following two runner-up scores and a third during Saturday. Sophomore
Kiana Beachy and junior
Maria Skouloudi split the skipper role in B division for Jumbos 2. Sophomore
Dory Russell crewed all 10 races. They are eighth in the division, with Beachy and Russell earning a fifth-place score in today's first race as the B's best.
