NEW YORK (January 23, 2026) -- Senior standout
Vharsha Dinesh had a strong day in the opening rounds of action at the 2026 College Squash Association (CSA) National Individual Championships Friday, leading a small group of four women's players at the event.
Dinesh started the day by taking on Ziyi Liu of Dartmouth College in the Ramsey Cup Round of 64, picking up the first set over Liu 11-8. Dinesh chalked up a second game victory 11-9 before falling in the third 11-9. In the fourth game, Dinesh would pull away for the 11-6 win to advance to take on No. 1 seed Zeina Zein of Princeton University.
In the Round of 32, Zein was pushed by Dinesh as she was in each of the three games but in the end the top-seed from Princeton was able to pick up the 11-8, 11-5 and 11-4 win. Dinesh will now play in the Women Consolation Pool D at 12:30 p.m. against Zhi Xuan Goh of Stanford University Saturday.
Sophomore
Anika Goyal was pitted up against Goh in the Round of 64, falling to the Stanford standout 11-1, 11-5 and 11-6. Goyal will take on Cecilia Curran of Georgetown University Saturday at 10 a.m.
First-year
Ella Hill dropped her first round action against Emma Trauber, a seeded player from Princeton with scores of 11-6, 11-5 and 11-2. Junior
Maria Arseniev played well against Trinity College's seeded player Doyce Ye San Lee, but fell eventually 11-7, 8-11, 11-2 and 11-8 in four games.
Hill will take on Amherst College's Kanzy Alkaliuoby, a rematch of last week's match at home, Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Women Plate Pool B round, while Arseniev will battle Madison Ho of Stanford at 10:50 a.m.
