MEDFORD, MA (October 12, 2026) – After an outstanding performance shutting out Middlebury College on Saturday, Tufts University senior goalie
Isabel Ginns has been named the NESCAC Field Hockey Player of the Week today.
In Tufts' only game last week, the #1 in the nation Jumbos hosted #2 Middlebury with first place in NESCAC on the line. The Jumbos earned a 2-0 victory, with Ginns as the backbone making nine saves in goal. Tufts remained undefeated (11-0, 7-0 NESCAC) and took over sole possession of first place in the league, while Middlebury also played on Sunday and sits at 9-2 overall and 6-1 in the conference.
The nine saves were a season-high for Ginns, who is in her first year as the starter after backing up All-American
Lydia Eastburn for three seasons. Ginns was particularly strong in the fourth quarter against Middlebury, recording five saves as the Panthers attempted 10 shots during heavy pressure. The shutout was her fifth of the season.
This is the second straight NESCAC Field Hockey Player of the Week honor for the Jumbos. Sophomore forward
Eleanor Helm was selected last week. It's the first conference honor for Ginns.
She leads the conference with a 0.52 goals against average, playing every minute for the Jumbos so far (688:49) and allowing just six goals. Her .854 save percentage is also the top mark in NESCAC. The five shutouts are second-most.
Tufts is on a school-record 16-game winning streak heading into non-conference action at home on Thursday against the University of New England.
