No. 3 Women's Soccer Pours On Season-High Nine Goals to Nab 9-0 Win Over Bridgewater State

MEDFORD, MA (October 20, 2026) – The No. 3 ranked Tufts University women's soccer team sent home a season-high nine goals and locked up defensively to capture a convincing 9-0 shutout victory over Bridgewater State University this afternoon on Bello Field.

The Jumbos (10-0-2, 4-2-2 NESCAC), were hounding the opponents end and posted five scores in the opening half before scoring four more in the second half. The Jumbos had two multi-goal scorers as Jordyn Miller earned her first career hat-trick, while Reese Birch fired in two goals in the win. The Bears (2-9-1, 2-2-1 MASCAC), could not find a way to stop the onslaught.

Tufts put the first goal on the board at the 12:31 mark of the first 45 minutes to take a 1-0 lead. Miller took credit for the marker, while Maren Jones continued her standout season with her team-leading sixth assist of the fall. The same duo combined for Tufts' second goal of the game, which came just over two minutes later, with Miller on the goal and Jones with the helper.

Waverly Sumner buried her team-leading seventh goal of the season to add to the Jumbo lead under two minutes after Miller's second goal. Emily Nicholas picked up her fifth assist of 2026 on the score.

Gussie Robillard and Emma Finnerty tacked on the two remaining first half goals in the 33rd and 39th minutes, respectively. On Robillard's tally, Chloe Kung dished out her second career assist. On Finnerty's score, Robillard delivered a cross in from the corner, Mia Usatin made a touch pass to Finnerty on the far side of the goal, and Finnerty pushed the ball into the open cage.

Heading into the halftime break, Tufts held a resounding 18-2 shot department advantage and also led 3-1 in corner kick opportunities.

Sarah Hauck was the first goal scorer of the second half, earning her first of the season to put the Jumbos ahead by six. Finnerty grabbed her first assist of the fall on the shot. Reese Birch put in the next two goals for Tufts, giving the Jumbos an 8-0 scoreline. Robillard tabbed an assist on Birch's second goal of the game.

Miller completed her first career hat-trick in the 84th minute, with Nicholas collecting her second assist of the contest.

Greta Steege played the full 45 minutes in the first half, while Lindsay Fouche got her first taste of action this season with the full 45 minutes played in the second to capture the combined shutout. Cate Holbeierlein was the lone Jumbo to play the full 90 minutes.

Tufts will visit Williamstown, MA on Saturday for a NESCAC match-up against Williams at 12:30 PM.
