MEDFORD, MA (February 3, 2026) – As the calendar turned to February this week, the Tufts University men's and women's indoor track & field teams have a combined 27 marks that rank in the Division III Top 50 thus far through the 2025-26 season.

On March 8, the top 20 in each individual event and the top 12 relay foursomes will earn spots at the 2026 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships to be held March 13-14 in Birmingham, Alabama. Teams still have five weeks to earn national qualifying marks.
The highest-ranked Jumbo performance at the moment comes from the women's 4x400-meter relay whose 3:51.28 time at Boston University's John Thomas Terrier Classic on January 30 is fourth nationally. The foursome is sophomore

Cori Stewart, first-year
Lauren Downer and sophomore
Arielle Chechile. This makes them the second-fastest indoor 4x4 in Tufts history.
Chechile also has a pair of top 20 individual times. Her 24.83 mark in the 200 meters at BU on January 30 was a school record and currently ranks 12th in DIII. The time of 57.15 seconds that she ran at the Harvard Invitational on January 31 is currently 16th in the nation.
The top men's mark so far for 2025-26 is by senior Caleb McCullen, who finished the 3000 meters at BU's Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener on December 6 in an 8:10.46 time that still ranks 10th nationally. McCaleb also has the 11th-best time in the mile, a 4:09.24 that he ran at the John Thomas Terrier Classic on January 31.
The women's team currently has eight marks within the national top 20. Joining Chechile with multiple national top 20 rankings is junior
Simisola Lawal. She ran the 60-meter dash in 7.70 seconds on January 31 at Harvard to rank 17th, one day after she had finished the 200 at BU in 24.92 seconds to rank 15th in that event.
Senior
Liz Donahue's 16:54.83 time in the 5000 from the BU Sharon Colyear-Danville meet on December 6 is still ninth in the DIII rankings. Junior
Katya Henisz's 17:13.13 in that event at BU stands 17th. Henisz is studying abroad for the spring semester and will not compete at NCAA's were she to qualify. Junior
Emma Gall popped a career-best pole vault of 3.80m (12'5 ½") at Harvard on January 31 to rank 16th nationally.
Donahue is also just outside the top 20 in the mile. She broke the five-minute barrier personally with a 4:59.37 time at BU on January 30 that is 25th in Division III.

Jonas Michael join McCaleb as Jumbos with top 20 national rankings through February 1. The 4x4 of sophomore

Miles Sandoski and senior
Josh Wilkie combined on a 3:18.59 at BU on January 31 for the #17 ranking. Michael won the pole vault event at Harvard on January 30 with clearance at 4.80m (15'9") to rank 13th in Division III.
Freshman Christopher Hovet's first collegiate 5000 meters race resulted in a 14:42.53 time at BU on January 31 which has him just outside of the top 20 at 21st nationally. Senior
Sahr Matturi in the long jump is 29th with his 7.02m (23'0 ½") best at the Reggie Lewis Track & Athletic Center on January 30. Sophomore
Luke Benson is 30th in the triple jump, a 14.14m (46'4 ¾") at the same meet.
Other Tufts women with top 50 marks for the season include a pair in the weight throw. Junior
Ceci LaBarge's 16.00m (52'6") that won the Harvard meet is 33rd, while sophomore
Mia Kurtz has a 15.99m (52'5 ½") from the Branwen Smith-King Invitational at Tufts on January 17 that is 35th. First-year
Zui Chinchalkar in the 3000 (10:02.06 at BU on December 6) and sophomore
Zoe Margolies in the 5000 (17:50.95 at BU on January 30) are ranked 41st and 50th this week, respectively.
Jumbo men listed among the top 50 at the moment include junior
Harris Gulbransen 33rd in the mile (4:12.30 at BU on January 31, junior
Sam Kurian 36th in the 800 meters (1:53.95 at BU on January 31), Wilkie 40th in the 60-meter hurdles (8.34 at the Branwen Smith King Invitational on January 17), junior
Sami Witta 42nd in the high jump (1.98m / 6'6" at the Branwen Smith-King meet), freshman
Collett Kinobe 42nd in the triple jump (13.99m / 45'10 ¾" at the Branwen Smith-King meet) and freshman
Tieren Mead 46th in the high jump (1.97m / 6'5 ½" at the Branwen Smith-King Invitational),
Both teams will return home to the Gantcher Center for the Tufts Invitational on Saturday (Feb. 7) where they will continue to chase improved marks for national-qualifying consideration.
