MALDEN , MA (February 6, 2026) – Jumbos goaltender
Caio Bernardini made 18 saves in his first career start as Tufts University came back from down 2-0 to take a 3-2 win over Connecticut College in NESCAC play at the Valley Forum.
Tufts captured their third win at home this season to move to 6-7-0 in conference. Connecticut took their second straight loss and falls to 4-8-1 in NESCAC action.
The Camels jumped out to an early two-goal lead in the opening frame with goals from Pete Stanger under five minutes into the period and Shane Zarcone with 4:31 remaining in the first.
Arty Mirante held the puck at the right point and dished a pass to Quinn Kennedy. As Kennedy skated through the slot, he saw Stanger on the right post and hit him with a backhand feed for the easy tap-in goal to put Connecticut up 1-0.
The Camels doubled their lead after Jimmy Lyver and Michael Stenberg set up Zarcone with a breakaway opportunity with 4:31 remaining in the first.
The Jumbos cut their deficit in half on the man advantage with 6:21 left to go in the middle period. Skating from behind the net,
Brendan Fennell hit
Ethan Ullrick with a tape-to-tape pass at the blue line, Ullrick maneuvered through the right side of the offensive zone and put a shot towards goal and
Max Resnick buried the rebound.
Tufts knotted the game at two with three seconds remaining in the second period. After a faceoff win back to
Tommy DelFarno, DelFarno whipped a pass to
Cole Dubicki on the other side of the blue line, Dubicki fired a low shot towards the net, and
Marcus Sang screened the goalie and redirected it past Will McEvoy.
Ullrick potted the eventual game-winner on another power-play opportunity 7:24 into the final frame. Fennell pushed a lead pass along the left side of the offensive zone to
Drew Pitts, Pitts fed Ullrick in the high-slot, and Ullrick snuck the puck between the legs of the Camel's netminder.
Connecticut pulled their goalie with 1:40 left to go in regulation and were able to apply pressure in the offensive zone, but Bernardini stood tall and refused to allow an equalizer.
McEvoy tallied 15 saves for the Camels. However, Bernardini did not concede a goal after the first period and secured the win for the Jumbos.
Connecticut led the shot department 20-18. The Jumbos capitalized on both of their power play opportunities. Connecticut was 0 for 2 on the man advantage.
Tufts travels to Connecticut College tomorrow for a 7:30 contest.
