MEDFORD, MA (March 13, 2026) - The Tufts University indoor track & field teams get started at the NCAA Championships in Alabama on Friday with Jumbos competing in eight events.
A total of 11 Jumbos are representing Tufts for the next two days at the Birmingham Crossplex, site of the 2026 NCAA DIII Indoor meet.
Senior
Josh Wilkie is the first Jumbo in action as he runs in the preliminaries of the men's 60-meter hurdles on Friday at 1:45 PM CST (2:45 PM EST). For the women's team, junior Simi Lawal is the first to compete as she has the preliminaries of the 60-meter dash on Friday at 2:00 PM CST (3:00 PM EST).
The women's team will have a busy three-hour stretch in the afternoon. Sophomores
Arielle Chechile and
Makayla Moriarty are in the field for the 400 meters preliminaries at 3:05 PM CST (4:05 PM EST). Sophomore
Elysse Cumberland's turn is next, as she competes in the long jump preliminaries and final starting at 3:30 PM CST (4:30 PM EST). The 200 meters preliminaries at 4:15 PM CST (5:15 PM EST) features Tufts' Chechile and Lawal. The final women's event on Friday is the 5000 meters where senior
Liz Donahue will run at 4:45 PM CST (5:45 PM EST).
The men will be in action in a pair of races late in Friday's schedule. Junior
Harris Gulbransen is in the 5000 meters field at 5:05 PM CST (6:05 PM EST), and Tufts' distance medley relay runs at 6:30 PM CST (7:30 PM EST). The Jumbo foursome is senior
Quinn Hampson, senior
Cam McLeod, junior
Sam Kurian and senior
Cullen McCaleb.
Wilkie (60h), Lawal (60), Chechile (200, 400) and Moriarty (400) will all be competing to advance to the finals in their events on Saturday.
