NEW LONDON, CT (March 15, 2026) – Tufts University Women's Sailing finished fifth after two rounds of racing at the Southern New England Team Race on the Thames River.
The Jumbos had a strong day on Saturday, winning six of their seven races. However, they slipped to a 1-4 record on Sunday which gave them a 7-5 final mark. Tufts lost a tie-breaker to Bowdoin (number of races won when tied teams met) to drop into fifth out of eight total teams.
Sunday's round robin did not include Northeastern and Rhode Island teams which had competed on Saturday. In five races, the Jumbos' lone win on Sunday came against MIT with a perfect 1-2-3 finish. They had losses to Yale, Bowdoin, Brown and Roger Williams.
The Tufts team of senior skipper
Ella Hubbard with junior crew
Eloise Goedkoop sailed all of Sunday's races together. First-year skipper
Maddie Janzen raced with a pair of crews in sophomore
Amelia Traver and senior
Lilly Ladd. Sophomore skipper
Sophia Hubbard also had two crews for the day, as Ladd and sophomore

The Jumbos will host the Duplin Trophy Team Race on Upper Mystic Lake next weekend (Mar. 21-22).
