MEDFORD, MA (March 16, 2026) -- Tufts University senior forward
Scott Gyimesi continued to see the honors roll in on Monday morning, as the Jumbo standout was named as the D3hoops.com Region 1 Player of the Year as voted on by region coaches and media members.
Gyimesi was also just one of five players that earned First Team All-Region 1, as the senior comes into the week averaging 16.1 points and 9.4 rebounds per game this season, averaging 30.6 minutes per game in 25 games played.
The senior is shooting 56.0 percent overall, shooting 40 percent from three-point land on the year while making 71.1 percent at the free throw line. Gyimesi is among the all-time active leaders in double-doubles in all of NCAA basketball with his 49 all-time, which is the most among active Division III players.
Gyimesi has helped lead the Jumbos to the NCAA quarterfinals for the first time since the 2016 season, and just the second time in program history. He is currently 13th all-time in scoring at Tufts with his 1306 points, while his rebound total of 948 is the most in program history.
He becomes the first D3hoops.com Region 1 Player of the Year for the Jumbos.
Tufts will take on Trinity College (CT) Thursday afternoon at 6:30 p.m. EDT in the NCAA Quarterfinals in Ft. Wayne, IN at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum.
