Men's Basketball To Host NCAA First and Second Rounds This Weekend

MEDFORD, MA (March 2, 2026) -- The No. 9 Tufts University men's basketball team earned a Pool C "at large" bid into the 2025 NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Tournament and will host the NCAA First and Second Rounds, which was announced Monday on the NCAA Selection Show online.

The Jumbos will host Penn State University Harrisburg Friday evening inside Cousens Gymnasium, while Catholic University of America and Western Connecticut State University will play at 3:30 p.m. in the other NCAA opening round game Friday. The two winners will play Saturday at 6 p.m.

The Jumbos are making their 10th appearance in the NCAA Tournament, while the stretch of four straight seasons in the postseason is the most in program history. Tufts finished the season ranked No. 9 in the final NPI rankings, used to decided seeding and berths into the tournament. Catholic was ranked No. 23, WestConn was No. 56 and Penn State Harrisburg slotted in at No. 129.

Tufts was one of five NESCAC schools to earn a bid into the NCAA Tournament, joining NESCAC champion Trinity College and at-large selections Wesleyan University, Bates College and Amherst College.

Penn State Harrisburg won the United East Conference automatic qualifier, while WestConn was the champion of the Little East Conference. Catholic is making the trip up from Washington, DC after earning an at-large selection after falling in the Landmark Conference semifinals.

Tournament play starts at 1 p.m. Friday afternoon in Montclair, NJ with Yeshiva University and Bates, as the day features 32 games in the NCAA First Round.
