Women's Sailing Surges to Third Place at Duplin Team Race in Medford

MEDFORD, MA (March 22, 2026) - A strong Sunday performance led the Tufts University women's sailing team to a third-place finish among 10 teams at the Duplin Team Race hosted by the Jumbos on Upper Mystic Lake this weekend.

Tufts was in fifth place through Saturday after posting a 5-4 record in an opening round robin. A top eight round was contested on Sunday, when Tufts won five out of seven races to improve to a 10-6 mark overall.

That put the Jumbos in third place, behind only Yale (13-3) and Brown (12-4). Tufts won a sail-off against Roger Williams to take third place in the regatta.

In Sunday's top eight round, the Jumbos' 5-2 overall record included wins over MIT, Bowdoin, Roger Williams, Harvard and Rhode Island. The losses were against Brown and Yale.

Yale took first in the Duplin Team Race regatta with a 13-3 record.

Same as on Saturday, the Jumbo team today had senior skipper Ella Hubbard with sophomore crew Dory Russell, first-year skipper Maddie Janzen with senior crew Lilly Ladd and sophomore skipper Sophia Hubbard with junior crew Eloise Goedkoop.

The Jumbos continue the spring season next weekend at the Dellenbaugh Trophy hosted by Brown.
