MEDFORD, MA (April 12, 2026) – The Tufts University baseball team snapped the 12-game win streak of No. 22 Endicott College with an 11-6 win in a non-conference matchup at Sol Gittleman Park this afternoon in sunny and breezy conditions.
The Jumbos (18-7, 3-3 NESCAC), opened the contest with
Mark Herlihy on the bump for his fifth start of the spring. The junior started off strong with three strikeouts and three hits allowed in four shutout innings. Herlihy earned the win with five strikeouts and two unearned runs allowed on five hits and two walks in six complete innings of work.
Tufts put runs on the board first yet again with seven in the bottom of the second to take a 7-0 advantage.
Malcolm Whitfield led off with a single up the middle and stole second.
Owen McKiernan drove home Whitfield from second with an RBI double down the left field line. McKiernan then moved to third after
Tom Pender was hit by a pitch and
Brody Minick walked.
Jesse McCullough then walked which gave McKiernan the free trot home. The Jumbos proceeded to score five more runs on two hits before the end of the frame.
The Jumbos posted four runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to push their lead to 11. Henshon walked to begin the inning and advanced to third base after
Jack Kamin singled to right center.
Tate Bannish hit a sacrifice fly ball to left field to bring home the sophomore for his 24th RBI of the year. Kamin,
AJ Lysko, and Whitfield each crossed home for the final three tallies of the inning.
Endicott cut the deficit to nine with two runs in the top of the fifth to capture its first runs of the game. With two outs recorded, Adam Regan walked and advanced to second on a passed ball. Regan then scored after TJ Liponis hit an RBI double into right center field. Liponis reached home after Kyle Grabowski reached first on a throwing error by the Jumbos' shortstop.
In the top of the seventh inning, the Gulls tacked on two more runs to cut the Jumbo lead to seven. Regan doubled to left center field and scored after Liponis singled to the opposite side. Grabowski then advanced Liponis to third with double down the left field line. Brendan Walsh brought Liponis home from third with a high bouncing ground ball single to third base.
Endicott made it an 11-6 game with two more runs touching home in the bottom of the seventh inning. Fusco led off the frame with a walk and advance to third on single from Regan. Liponis scored Fusco from third with an RBI single up the middle and Regan scored on an error from Lysko which helped Grabowski reach first.
Derek Desmarais took over for the final two innings to guide the Jumbos to the winning finish. The sophomore ended the afternoon with three strikeouts, four hits allowed, and one earned run allowed.
Kamin (3-for-5), McKiernan (2-for-4), and Whitfield (3-for-5) all collected multiple hits in the victory.
Tufts will start a four-game road trip on Wednesday in Babson Park, MA against Babson College at 3:30 PM.
