MEDFORD, MA (April 22, 2026) -- The No. 1 Tufts University men's lacrosse team saw their 42-game win streak come to an end Wedenesday evening on Bello Field as part of a 14-12 New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) defeat to No. 2 Bowdoin College in the regular season finale for both squads.

The Jumbos (14-1, 9-1 NESCAC) will now settle for the No. 2 seed in the upcoming NESCAC Tournament, where Tufts will entertain Middlebury College Saturday, April 25 at 3 p.m. on Bello Field in the conference quarterfinals. The loss for Tufts is its first since the NESCAC Quarterfinals in 2024 against Hamilton College, a year that saw the Jumbos go on to win the NCAA title. The 42-game win streak goes down as the fourth-longest in NCAA Division III history, and the longest since Salisbury won 55 straight from February 17, 2007 to March 24, 2009.

Bowdoin (14-0, 10-0 NESCAC) came out fast Wednesday night, scoring four of the first five goals including two from Chris Berry to take a 5-1 lead into the second quarter.

Tufts would rally back with three straight scores, two being set up by junior Jackson Redd, to pull to within one at 5-4 with 12:29 to go in the half. Bowdoin answered with a three-goal spurt of its own behind three straight scores from Sam Raye-Steiner to regain a four-goal edge.

Senior Jack Regnery stopped the Bowdoin run with a score at the 3:33 mark of the second fame, but Casey Ryan netted a late first-half goal to send the game to halftime with Bowdoin up 9-5.

The Jumbos would make adjustments and roared back with five straight goals over a seven-minute span to take their first lead of the game at 10-9 after a Redd tally.

Bowdoin tallied the followed three goals, two from Hudson Greene, to take a 12-0 lead early on in the fourth quarter. Brooks Hauser netted a pair of goals to bring Tufts to within one, including his 46th of the season at 5:36 of the frame to make it 13-12 Bowdoin.

Tufts had chances to tie the game late but Hauser and Chase Beyer had attempts stopped while the Jumbos committed two costly turnovers before Huck Trafton sealed the win with 21 seconds to play into a empty net.

Redd had his best game as a Jumbo on Wednesday evening, as the junior finished with a goal and a career-high five assists. Hauser netted three goals, while Regnery finished with two goals and an assist.

Garrett Kelly and Beyer each scored a pair of goals, while Will Emsing tallied a goal and an assist. Senior face-off Victor Salcedo scored his second of the season in addition to picking up seven ground balls, and Davis Owens had three caused turnovers and two ground balls.

Sophomore Jack Old finished with 13 saves in the loss for Tufts, which outshot Bowdoin narrowly 47-45 for the game. Both teams picked up 32 grounders on the game, and Bowdoin scored on the game's lone man-up opportunity in the first quarter.
