MEDFORD, MA (April 6, 2026) – First-year left fielder
Tate Bannish posted some stellar offensive numbers this week as the Jumbos registered a 3-1 record in games against Rhode Island College and NESCAC opponent Colby College. He was honored with New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Baseball Player of the Week honors for his standout contributions.
Bannish is the first Jumbo this season to obtain a NESCAC weekly honor as a pitcher or fielder. Bannish has been remarkably successful through the first half of his debut season with a .354 batting average, 1.082 OPS, three home runs, and 19 RBIs to help Tufts to an impressive 15-5 record on the season so far.
The Wellesley native had a monster week for Tufts, starting and notching at least a hit in all four games. Bannish was 8-for-15 at the dish with five runs scored, one homer, one triple, and five RBIs. Bannish also stole two bases on the weekend.
In the fourth and final game of the week, Bannish had the best game of his young career, going 5-for-6 at the plate with a home run, a triple, four RBIs, and three runs scored to finish a double shy of the cycle.
The Jumbos will take on MIT next at home on Wednesday, April 8 at 3 PM.
