MEDFORD, MA (April 8, 2026) -- Senior
Allie Zorn tied a career-high with six goals Wednesday while junior
Schuyler Lloyd had a career-high eight points to help lead the No. 3 Tufts University women's lacrosse team to a 16-8 victory over visiting Bates College in league action from Bello Field.
The six goals for Zorn were the most by a Jumbo player in a game this season, while the six assists by Lloyd were a season-high for a Tufts attacker in a game. The six helpers were also the most in a game since Lara Kozin dished out a school-record seven April 14, 2011 against Endicott. Lloyd became just the fifth player in program history with six or more assists in a game.
The Jumbos (10-2, 5-2 New England Small College Athletic Conference) opened the scoring 71 seconds into the game, as Zorn scored unassisted to start an unanswered three-goal run in the first quarter for the Jumbos. Sophomore
Anna Mollahan scored her first of the day at 11:15 from Zorn, followed by a Lloyd free-position goal to make it 3-0 after the opening stanza.
Tufts got two quick goals to start the second quarter to make it 5-0 before Laci Raveis netted an unassisted goal to make it 5-1 Jumbos with 12:23 to play in the first half. Zorn would score three of the next four goals for Tufts including two in 58 seconds to put the Jumbos up 9-1 with 57 seconds left in the second quarter.
After taking a 9-2 lead into the break, Tufts outscored the Bobcats (6-7, 2-6 NESCAC) 7-2 in the quarter including five consecutive goals over the final 7:34 of the frame to make it 16-4. Bates outscored Tufts 4-0 in the final frame, but the Jumbos were able to cruise to the victory.
Lloyd added two goals to her six assists, scoring on both of her free position attempts. Zorn assisted on one goal to go with her six strikes, picking up two ground balls. The senior now has 243 points for her career, tying Kozin for fifth most all-time. She also now has 165 goals for her career, moving into No. 6 on the all-time list, passing Kim Zinman '92 and her 164 goals.
Mollahan finished with a career-high three goals, scoring on all three of her shots, while
Eleanor Helm had one goal and two helpers in the win. Senior
Kate Deehan had two scores, three draw controls and a caused turnover as well.
First-year
Sophie Haas had a strong game with a team-high three caused turnovers, picking up two ground balls, and
Grace Hammond added three grounders and two draw controls. Juniors
Emily Leschin and
Kathryn Wilson each had two ground balls.
Sophomore
Devon Chipman had four saves to earn the win, while
Sophie Powless made six stops in the second 30 minutes of the game.
Tufts outshot Bates 36-21 for the game, posting a 15-11 edge in draw controls for the contest. The Jumbos earned a strong eight free position attempts, but managed to only score on a pair of their chances.
Keating had four goals and an assist to lead the Bobcats, and Virginia Avery recorded 11 saves Wednesday.
Tufts will now take on No. 2 Wesleyan University Saturday, April 11 at 1 p.m. in Middletown, CT.
