Hauser, Regnery Lead Jumbos To NCAA Quarterfinals With 24-10 Win Over Middlebury

MEDFORD, MA (May 10, 2026) -- The No. 1 Tufts University men's lacrosse squad netted 24 goals Saturday, including 13 in the third quarter to run away from No. 19 Middlebury College in earning a 24-10 win in the 2026 NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse Tournament Third Round from Bello Field.

The victory pushed the Jumbos into the NCAA Quarterfinals for the seventh straight season, as Tufts (18-1) will now take on No. 6 York College (Pa.) Saturday at 4:30 PM on Bello Field after York topped Lynchburg Sunday 18-12.

The Jumbos used the formula that has worked for years now on Sunday, turning a close game early into a lopsided victory thanks to dominant play in the middle quarters. Middlebury (9-8) led 3-2 after JD Farkas scored nine seconds in the second quarter, but from that point it was all Tufts.

First-year Jack Donovan scored his second of the season in transition to deadlock the game at three, starting a 6-0 run over the next seven minutes to put the Jumbos up by five at 8-3. Tufts would end up leading 9-4 at the halftime intermission.

The third quarter would be the final nail for the Jumbos, as Tufts poured in 13 markers in the frame including five from senior Jack Regnery to make it 22-6 after three quarters of play. The 13 goals were the most in a period since outscoring Springfield College 14-0 on March 8, 2023.

The starting attack combined for 21 points on Sunday evening, as Regnery recorded six goals and two assists in addition to his two ground balls. Senior Brooks Hasuer had eight points as well on three helpers and five scores, and Chase Beyer set up four goals in addition to scoring once.

Senior Garrett Kelly had a hat trick on four shots on goal, and Will Emsing had a pair of goals and assists for four points. Junior Jackson Redd set up two goals, Peter Kraemer and Henry Tweedy each tallied twice and first-year Tommy McCool had a goal and an assist as well. Senior Cole Friedlander also scored his first career goal Sunday in the third quarter run.

Senior face-off Victor Salcedo was 8-of-18 on face-offs with a team-high six ground balls, Lucas De la Paz was 5-for-14 with five grounders and Erik Helgesen also won four of his six draws for three grounders.

Defensively, William Bonner had two caused turnovers and a ground ball, while Logan Lee and Davis Owens each had three ground balls and one forced turnover. Jack Old got the win in net for Tufts, making three saves in 45 minutes of play.

Tufts outshot Middlebury 55-23, while the Jumbos forced Middlebury into nine turnovers on clear attempts (14-23). The hosts also posted a 45-32 edge in ground balls, while finishing 3-of-5 on extra-man opportunities. Tufts also forced the Panthers into 28 turnovers.

Will Ford had three goals and two assists for the Panthers, and JD Farkas and Logan White each had four points apiece for Middlebury. Hayden Kern made 14 saves in the loss for the visitors.

Tufts will take on York Saturday, May 17 at 4:30 p.m., and will also play host to another NCAA Quarterfinal featuring Wesleyan University and Christopher Newport University at 7:30 p.m. on Bello Field.
