MEDFORD, MA (May 11, 2026) -- The NCAA announced recently the individuals and doubles pairs that would be competing in the 2026 NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Championships May 23-26 at Champions Tennis Club in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and seniors
Alex Ganchev and
Javier Gonzalez will compete in the single's draw while Ganchev will team up with classmate
Sacha Maes in the doubles' draw.
The individual championships shall consist of 32 singles players and 16 doubles teams. The selection of teams and individuals for the championships is based on won-lost record, strength of schedule and eligibility and availability of student-athletes.
The Jumbos are 24-2 overall as a team and making an appearance in the NCAA Quarterfinals for the fifth straight season thanks to the great play from these three seniors. Gonzalez has played No. 1 all season for the Jumbos, accumulating a 9-5 record while going a strong 6-0 in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) action. Ganchev has been red hot this spring, as the senior has gone 15-1 during the spring season including winning 15 straight single's matches.
Maes has also been strong in singles with a 15-3 mark, but his play with Ganchev over the last few years has been sparkling. The duo has gone a strong 15-7 together in doubles, capturing the most wins of any doubles' duo on the team. The tandem was selected as All-NESCAC First Team as well.
The NCAA team portion of the Championships will be May 19-22 also in Tennessee, as the Jumbos will take on Swarthmore College May 19 at a time to be announced.
