Jumbos Prepared to Host NCAA Sectional Rounds on Bello Field This Weekend

MEDFORD, MA (May 14, 2026) – The No. 1 ranked Tufts University men's lacrosse team will host the NCAA Sectional round this weekend for the second consecutive year. Two wins against Rhodes and Middlebury in the Second and Third Rounds allowed the Jumbos to advance and host this weekend's quarterfinal at Bello Field in Medford, MA. Tufts is set to match up against York (PA) College at 4:30 PM, while Wesleyan (CT) University is scheduled to take on Christopher Newport University on Bello Field at 7:30 PM. The Jumbos enter the weekend after defeating Rhodes College 17-8 and Middlebury College 24-10 in the NCAA Second and Third Rounds. The winner of this weekend's bracket will move on to the 2026 NCAA Championship game at Scott Stadium in Charlottesville, VA, which is home to the University of Virginia.

History vs. York (PA), Chris. Newport, and Wesleyan (CT)
Tufts and York (PA) have seen each other just once in the two long histories of these programs. The Jumbos took down the at the time No. 10 ranked Spartans in the third round of the 2023 NCAA Tournament with a score of 22-7 at Bello Field. Tufts lost to No. 2 Salisbury, 12-17, in the Championship Game that season. Tufts has faced Christopher Newport have played each other three times in total with the Jumbos taking all three contests. The Captains fell to Tufts earlier this season at home as the No. 2 ranked team with a 17-9 final result. In 2025, the Jumbos took down CNU in overtime 17-16 in a game where Tufts trailed 8-0. Wesleyan (CT) is by far the most familiar opponent coming into town this weekend as the conference foes have a lengthy history of tightly contested matchups. Tufts holds the edge in the all-time series with a 36-30 record and are18-10 at home with a 7-3 record in their last ten matchups. This season, the Jumbos earned a 19-14 victory over the then No. 8 ranked Cardinals.
 
A Look at Tufts
Tufts enters the weekend as the top-ranked team in the country and have their eyes set on a third consecutive NCAA Division III National Title. The Jumbos have made an NCAA Tournament appearance every year since 2009 and have made it to four consecutive Quarterfinal rounds. The Jumbos earned their 14th NESCAC title earlier this month.
 
Tufts holds a 9-1 home record this season and have won its last 11 games at Bello Field in the NCAA Tournament dating back to 2019.
 
The Jumbos come into the weekend as one of the top ranked teams in the multiple statistical areas. On the offensive side, the Jumbos breached the top five s they are in fifth nationally with 224 team assists with an 11.2 assists per game mark. Tufts is also tied for fifth with 585 team points with a 29.25 points per game clip that ranks third in the nation. The Jumbos sit in tenth nationally with an average scoring margin of 8.40. The Blue and Brown are fourth in scoring offense with 18.05 goals per game. Tufts is fifth it total ground balls with 875 and ranks sixth with 43.75 per game.
 
Jack Regnerey leads this intimidating offensive attack with 103 points on 62 goals and 41 assists in 20 games played this season. The senior has fueled this elite front by leading the team in both goals and assists, while also picking up 35 ground balls. Brooks Hauser in the second leading goal scorer for this squad, following just behind Regnery with 61 tallies. Hauser added 24 helpers to give him 85 total points with 28 ground balls. Chase Beyer and Will Emsing contributed 74 and 73 points respectively with 79 combined goals between the two.
 
Victor Salcedo has been the main faceoff specialist for Tufts with 146 wins and a .589 faceoff percentage. Salcedo also leads the Jumbos with 97 ground ball pickups. On the defensive side, First Year Jack Donovan paced the Jumbos with 30 caused turnovers along with 27 ground balls.
 
Alex Dircks has slowly taken over that starting goaltender spot and is coming off of strong wins in the NCAA Second and Third Rounds. The sophomore holds a 2-0 record this season with 27 total saves and a .435 save percentage.
 
A Look at York (PA)
York (PA) College enters the weekend as the fifth ranked team in the nation with a 20-1 overall record this season. The Spartans took victories over Colorado College and No. 8 University of Lynchburg in the NCAA Second and Third rounds to advance into the quarterfinals. The Spartans captured an 11-4 win over Colorado with solid defense and edges out Lynchburg with an 18-12 score. York opened the season with a statement win over No. 10 Washington and Lee University and narrowly lost to a powerful No. 6 ranked Salisbury University program. York ranks ninth in the country in assists (224), second in win percentage (.952), and sixth in scoring offense (17.00). Davis Fisher leads the charge offensively for York with 94 points on 44 goals and 50 assists in 21 games played. Cory Bergmann is the main goal scorer for this crew with 56 markers and 93 total points. Nate Schilling has an eye for goal as well as he enters the weekend with 52 markers and 78 total points. Defensively, Colin Kane leads the Spartans with 29 caused turnovers along with 56 ground ball pickups. Nate Samson is the face off specialist for York with 152 faceoff wins and a faceoff percentage of .587 as well as 96 ground balls. Nash Womack has started all 21 games for the Spartans and has totaled 159 saves with a save percentage of .550 and a 20-1 record.
 
A Look at Christopher Newport
The Captain are making the sixth straight NCAA Quarterfinal appearance with an 18-3 overall record this season. Christopher Newport dominated Pfeiffer in the Second Round by a score of 20-7 before taking a hard fought battle against Washington and Lee with a 13-12 final result. The Captains have faced a tough schedule this season, which included nine top 25 ranked opponents and held a 6-3 record in those games. Kevin Miller is a strong playmaker for this squad and leads the team with 108 points on 35 goals and 73 assists in 21 games played as well as 47 ground ball pickups and 13 caused turnovers. Jamie Smith is tied for the nation's lead in goals with 81 as he highlights this high scoring attack. Smith has 93 total points this season with 33 ground ball pickups and 12 caused turnovers. Ryan Miller wraps up the top three point getters with 81 points on 42 goals and 32 assists. In the draw, Grant Giunchi has won 194 faceoffs with a .533 faceoff win percentage along with 91 ground ball pickups. In the national ranks CNU ranks 11th in assists (202) and first in caused turnovers (336). Mason Bellinger has started all 21 games for the Captains and has 281 total saves along with a .608 save percentage.
 
A Look at Wesleyan (CT)
The Cardinals come into the weekend after a 19-4 win over Ohio Northern in the NCAA Second Round and a 14-10 win over Williams in the NCAA Third Round advanced them into the quarterfinals. Wesleyan is in its fourth consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance and first Sectional Round appearance since 2018. This season, the Cardinals have defeated No. 8 RIT, No. 7 Stevens, No. 16 Amherst, and No. 14 Middlebury. Wesleyan comes into Medford as the No. 12 ranked team in the nation with a 13-4 overall record on the year. Will Miller and Gavin Lechner pace the offense with 47 points apiece. Miller leads the team with 35 goals and 113 total shots. Lechner is second on the team with 18 assists along with 26 ground balls. Matt Morrow is a talented midfielder with 45 points on 31 goals and 14 assists to in 17 games played and leads the Cardinals with 66 shots on goal. Ben Burns is a shoot first guy with 33 goals and just four assists in 13 games played. On the defensive side, Joe Hurton holds the lead on Wesleyan with 32 caused turnovers and 43 ground balls. Jack Doherty is the faceoff specialist for the Cardinals as he enters the weekend with 84 faceoff wins and a faceoff win percentage of .525. In goal, Conor Selfridge has started 17 games and has totaled 134 saves this season with a .498 save percentage and a 9.40 goals against average.
