CAMBRIDGE, MA (September 12, 2026) – Coming off a season of great progress, the Tufts University women's sailing team had a strong opening day on Saturday as the Jumbos stand third out of 17 teams so far at MIT's Toni Deutsch Trophy.
In 10 races today, Tufts returnees
Maddie Janzen and
Sophia Hubbard skippered the Jumbos to scores of 50 in A division and 62 in B division, respectively, for a 112 team total.
Harvard leads the regatta with a 67 score (30-37). Tufts is close behind second-place Brown, which earned a 36-74-110 score on Saturday.
Jansen, the sophomore All-American, was joined by senior crew
Eloise Goedkoop. They are third in A's through Saturday. Hubbard, now a three-year starter for the Jumbos, was on board with first-year crew
Fiona Barbeito. They are fourth in B's.
Janzen and Goedkoop won Saturday's second A race and had three second-place finishes. Hubbard and Barbeito scored a pair of third-place finishes in B's.
Day two of the regatta is set to begin on Sunday at 10 AM.
