BRUNSWICK, ME (September 26, 2026) – The Tufts University men's golf team wrapped up the two-round first day of the Bowdoin Invitational. The Jumbos ended day one in first place out of 16 teams with a one shot lead over New York University.

Jason Zawtocki filled out the active crew for Tufts in the event.
Matthew Maurice represented the Jumbos as well as he played independently.
Noone led the group through 36 holes with a three over mark. Noone started the morning round on the back nine did not have his best start, recording three bogeys in his first six holes, however the Weston native responded with seven straight par or better holes to finish three over par on the first way through. Noone went on to shoot dead even par in round two, with just two bogeys in the afternoon. The senior tallied six birdies throughout the day and is tied for 12th individually.
Roy ended day one tied for 16th place individually with a four over par stroke total. Roy followed up a four over par start on his first nine holes with two birdies and two pars on his first four holes of the back nine, leading to a five over par scorecard of 77. In the final round of the day, Roy put together a strong one under par score of 71. To highlight the afternoon, the Sterling native earned an eagle on hole number 16, a 494 yard par five.
McCabe and Zawtocki are currently tied for 24th in the individual rankings after ending day one with a five over par stroke total. McCabe started his day off scorching, carding a six under par score through his first 13 holes with zero bogeys. The senior ended the opening 18 holes with an even par score of 72. In the middle round, the Hingham native collected a five over score of 77. Zawtocki started with four straight pars and finished five over par before heading into the second 18. The sophomore found his groove in the afternoon, shooting an even par score of 72 with just two bogey or worse holes and three birdies. Zawtocki finished the day strong with no bogeys through his final 14 holes.
Cahill-Sanidas is tied for 54th individually following a 10 over par two-round day. In the first round, the junior started off hot, recording eight straight par or better holes to kick off the event. Cahill-Sanidas was one under through his first nine holes before a one over par finish on the way in had him at a dead even stroke total of 72. In round two, the Princeton native shot 10 over in the afternoon round.
Independently, Maurice shot a six over score of 78 in the morning round with one birdie on the 10th hole. The first year then earned a solid three over par performance in the afternoon round with a birdie on the fifth hole and capped off the day with nine straight pars.
Tufts captured the best team score in the opening round at eight over par.
The Jumbos will look to hold onto their one shot lead with one round left to play tomorrow in the Bowdoin Invitational. Action resumes tomorrow morning at the Brunswick Golf Club in Brunswick, ME at 9 AM.
