MIDDLEBURY, VT (September 26, 2026) -- Senior
Garv Bahl moved into the semifinals at the 2026 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) New England Regionals in the main singles' draw, while a pair of Jumbos duos also advanced to the semifinals in the second of three days of action up at Middlebury College.
Bahl is enjoying his best run at the ITA Regionals in his career, as he moved into the semifinals after a pair of wins Saturday. He topped Arjun Reiland of Middlebury 6-3, 6-2 to start the day, and then bested his sophomore teammate
Matej Djokic 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 in the quarterfinals. He will now take on Simon Cantanzaro of Bowdoin College in the semifinals.
If Bahl makes the finals, he will automatically earn a spot in the ITA Cup national tournament while earning Fall All-American honors as well.
In other singles' play, seeded
Kaetan Mehta was bested by No. 8 seed Noah Lewis in a thriller 2-6, 6-1, 6-3 in the Round of 16. Djokic made the quarterfinals with win over teammate
Stavros Mastrogamvrakis 6-3, 7-5.
In the "B" singles' draw, Tufts still has two of the four players still standing including both of the bracket's top seeds. Sophomore
Jackson Rich knocked off Jonah Stolte of Brandeis 5-7, 7-6, 1-0 (3) in a super to move into the quarters. Once there, he topped Ronald Gualario 7-6 (2), 6-3 to move into a semifinal showdown with Max Lidman of Babson.
On the bottom of the bracket,
Nico Tremblay bested Trinity College's Dean Jackson 6-2, 6-4, and then added a straight set win over Henry Groves of Middlebury 6-1, 6-4 to advance to take on Nikky Kondamuri of Middlebury Sunday.
In doubles, Mastrogamvrakis and Tremblay edged out Andy Yim and Kondamuri of Middlebury 8-7 (8) in the quarters after a Round of 16 8-6 win over Gary Jiang and Kade Chen of MIT. They will now take on a pair of teammates in the semifinals, as the Jumbos are assured of a spot in the finals after Djokic and first-year
Pratt Yerger won a pair of matches Saturday.
Yerger and Djokic defeated a Brandeis duo 8-6 in the Round of 16 to move into the quarterfinals, and then bested the seeded tandem of Harrison and Brzov of Amherst 8-7 (6) to set up the Jumbo clash. Either way, Tufts will send a doubles' team to the ITA Cup for the fourth time in the last five years.
Action will start in Middlebury indoors at 9 a.m. with the doubles semifinals followed by the semifinals in singles.
