Results
CHESTNUT HILL -- The Tufts University men's swimming &
diving team won 10 events in a tri-meet at Boston College with the
University of Rhode Island on Sunday afternoon. Senior quad-captain
Lawrence Chan (Fresh Meadows, NY), senior
Patrick Kinsella (Hinsdale, IL), and sophomore
Owen Rood (Branford, CT) led the pack with two
individual wins each.
The Jumbos split the tri-meet in the team scoring. Host Boston
College defeated them 190-165, and Tufts defeated the Rams
278-71.
In addition to their individual wins, Chan, Kinsella and Rood
were all a part of a meet-opening victory in the 200 medley relay.
Sophomore E.J. Testa (Cheshire, CT) led off the
group that finished with a winning 1:37.54 touch.
Chan posted the first individual win of the day for Tufts,
taking the 100 breaststroke with a 1:00.15 time. He later touched
first in the 50 breaststroke by finishing in 27.44 seconds.
Kinsella's double-win came in the 50 butterfly (23.91 seconds) and
the 100 butterfly (52.47 seconds). Rood conquered the freestyle
sprints, winning the 50 in 21.87 seconds and the 100 in 48.04
seconds.
Testa had an individual first as well with his time of 25.06
seconds in the 50 backstroke. Kinsella and Rood were both a part of
four Tufts wins overall, as they also contributed to a 400
freestyle relay victory swim of 3:11.75. They were joined by
juniors David Meyer (Clarendon Hills, IL) and
Andrew Altman (New Fairfield, CT).
Senior quad-captain Rob Matera (Trumbull, CT)
was judged best in one-meter diving with 254.48 points.
The Jumbos host a tri-meet against Bates and Wheaton on Saturday
(Jan. 30) at Hamilton Pool.
