NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- The Tufts University women's squash team advanced to the finals of the Epps Cup (D Division) at the Howe Cup Team Championships hosted by Yale University with an 8-1 victory over Northeastern University in the semi-finals on Saturday afternoon. The Jumbos will face Columbia in the Epps Cup final on Sunday at 2 pm. Tufts is the #1 seed in the Epps Cup. Columbia, who defeated Connecticut College 7-2 in Saturday's other semi-final, is the #2 seed.

The Jumbos won every match against Northeastern except at #1, where Northeastern's Tessa Martin won in three over Val Koo (Hong Kong, China). Five Jumbos won in three games, while Tufts also received a default victory in the ninth slot. It was the second victory of the season for the Jumbos (6-14) over the Huskies.

Senior Sairah Mahmud (Duxbury, MA) was the most efficient winner for Tufts, allowing just 11 points in the #8 match. Senior tri-captain Erin Bruynell (Milton, MA) won her first game at #7 11-0 on her way to a three-game win. First year Jess Rubine (Cranston, RI) won the fifth game at #4 11-9 to take that match.

The win was the third in a row for Tufts, and the fourth in the last five games.
