SPRINGFIELD -- Senior Jon Trott (Milton, MA)
shot a hole-in-one on the par-3, 186-yard, 15th hole at Veterans
Golf Course on Thursday, when the Tufts golf team tied for ninth
place at the WNEC Invitational.
The Jumbos totaled 331 strokes to tie with MCLA in ninth place
out of 12 teams at the tournament. Both teams were just a stroke
behind eighth-place UMass Dartmouth (330). Babson College won the
team title at 306 strokes.
Junior Luke Heffernan (Arlington, MA) shot a 78
on the par-72 course to lead Tufts. Senior Brett Hershman
(Worcester, MA) was the second best Jumbo for the day,
carding an 83. Trott, junior Cal Shapiro (Larchmont,
NY), and senior James Stone (Weston, MA)
all finished with 85's.
Babson's Joe Young as the individual medalist with an even-par
72.
The Jumbos conclude their spring action on Tuesday at the
Worcester State College Invitational, held at Sterling National
Country Club.
