WILLIAMSTOWN -- Freshman Sebastian
Vik shot a two-round 145 to tie for second individually out of
93 golfers competing at the Williams Invitational on the par 71
Taconic Golf Club on Saturday and Sunday. He shot par (71) on
Saturday, followed by a 74 on Sunday to lead Tufts to an
eighth-place effort out of 18 schools.
After combining for a four-score 317 on Saturday, the Jumbos
improved to 306 on Sunday for a two-day total of 623. They were
four strokes out of seventh place (NYU at 619) and three ahead of
ninth place Salem State (626).
Along with Vik's Saturday 71, the Jumbos got a pair of 81's from
seniors Cal Shapiro (Mamaroneck, NY) and Dan Moll (Newton,
MA). Senior Lindsay
Walker's (Castlegar, BC) 84 also counted towards the Jumbos'
Saturday score.
Sunday's four scores were all under 80. Vik's 74 was joined by a
76 from senior Luke
Heffernan (Arlington, MA), a 77 by Walker, and a 79 by Shapiro.
Shapiro's 160 total for the tournament tied for 44th
individually.
The Jumbos golf at the New England Small College Athletic
Conference (NESCAC) qualifier next weekend (Oct. 2-3) hosted by
Trinity College.
