NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Tufts University women's squash team finished a busy weekend with losses in two matches played at Yale University on Sunday. The #23 Jumbos lost 9-0 to #18 George Washington University, and then were narrowly defeated 5-4 by #26 Saint Lawrence University.
Junior co-captain Mercedes Barba (New York, NY) and sophomore Jessica Rubine (Cranston, RI) played best for Tufts against GW. Both took a game from their opponents. In the #3 match, Barba won the second game 11-7 to tie the match at 1-1 before losing in four. Rubine jumped to a 1-0 lead with an 11-8 victory in the first game before falling in four.
