Senior co-captain Val Koo won three close matches at #2

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY - The Tufts women's squash team finished its 2010-11 regular season with a 6-3 loss at Vassar College on Sunday afternoon. The Jumbos enter the post-season with a 7-13 record.
Tufts earned victories in three of the top five spots at Vassar. Senior co-captain Valerie Koo (Hong Kong, China) secured a hard-fought 12-10, 11-7, 11-8 win in the second spot. Junior Mercedes Barba (New York, NY) went four games to capture a win in the #3 match. Junior Alyse Vinosky (West Hartford, CT) lost the first game at #5, but rallied for 11-7, 11-8 and 11-8 wins to get the victory.
The Jumbos had a five-game loss and two four-game losses in the tightly contested match. Sophomore Ushashi Basu (Darien, CT) had a 1-0 lead at #6, then later tied the match at 2-2 before losing 13-11 in the fifth. Sophomore Hafsa Chaudhry (Westwood, MA) scored 35 points during her four-game loss at #7.
Tufts now awaits its seeding in this coming weekend's (Feb. 18-20) Howe Cup Team Championships to be held at Princeton University.
