WOMEN'S SQUASH LOSES WALKER CUP OPENER AGAINST FRANKLIN & MARSHALL AT PRINCETON

PRINCETON, N.J. - The Tufts University women's squash team fell 9-0 to Franklin & Marshall University in the first round of the Walker Cup division at the Howe Cup team championships played this weekend at Princeton University. The Jumbos (7-14) will face NESCAC foe Colby College in the consolation bracket on Saturday at 5:30 pm.

Junior Alyse Vinosky (West Hartford, CT) had the only Tufts win of the day in the fifth match. She won the first game 11-9 before falling 11-8, 14-12, 11-6 the rest of the way. Senior co-captain Val Koo (Hong Kong, China) scored 32 points in her competitive match at #2. She lost 18-16 in the first game. Sophomore Caitlin Doherty (Topsfield, MA) produced 26 points in the ninth match.

Franklin & Marshall, the #17 overall seed in Howe Cup play, is the top seed in the Walker division. Tufts, #24 overall, is the lowest seed in the eight-team Walker bracket. Play continues on Sunday, when the Jumbos will face either Vassar or William Smith in the consolation bracket.
