SPRINGFIELD - Tufts senior Lindsay Walker (Castlegar, BC) shot six-over par 78 to help the Jumbo golf team place sixth out of 12 teams at the WNEC Invitational held at the 6,433-yard Veterans Memorial Golf Course on Thursday afternoon.
Tufts totaled 323 strokes with their four-best scores. That was just four strokes out of fourth place. Senior Dan Moll (Newton, MA) shot 80, freshman Sebastian Vik (Oslo, Norway) finished with an 81 and senior Luke Heffernan (Arlington, MA) carded an 84. Walker's 78 tied for 11th individually.
Host Western England won the tournament by a stroke with a 307 score, with Salem State trailing at 308. UMass Dartmouth's Matt Connolly was the individual medalist with a 73 (+1).
Coach Bob Sheldon's Jumbos play at Sterling National Country Club in Worcester on Tuesday as part of the Worcester State Invitational.
