WORCESTER - Seniors Lindsay Walker (Castlegar, BC) and Caleb Shapiro (Mamaroneck, NY) both shot 81 to lead the Tufts golf team at the Worester State Invitational held at the par-72, 6,655-yard Sterling National Country Club on Tuesday afternoon.
The Jumbos finished with a four-man score of 331 strokes, one shot behind sixth-place Rhode Island College and one in front of Westfield State. Salem State University won the tournament with a 313 total.
Walker and Shapiro tied for 21st individually with their 81's (+9). Shapiro had a 37 on the back nine while Walker was a consistent 40-41. Tufts also used an 84 by senior Dan Moll (Newton, MA) and an 85 from freshman Sebastian Vik (Oslo, Norway). Moll shot 39 going out.
Salem State's Nick Zolotas was the medalist with a 33-36-69, three under par.
