PAIR OF SUB-80 ROUNDS FOR VIK LEADS TUFTS GOLF TEAM AT WILLIAMS INVITATIONAL

MEDFORD - Sophomore Sebastian Vik (Oslo, Norway) shot rounds of 78 and 79 at the par 71 Taconic Golf Glub at Williams College to help the Jumbos place 13th out of 18 teams at the annual Williams Invitational on Saturday and Sunday.

Vik's 78 led Tufts to a 325 four-man total on Saturday, and then the 79 was part of a 326 Tufts score on Sunday. The two-day 651 total was two in front of both NYU and Springfield, which tied for 14th at 653. Vik's 157 for the tournament tied for 31st individually.

Freshman Alex Zorniger (Dayton, OH) matched Vik for the best Jumbo round of the weekend, scoring a 78 on Sunday. He had an 82 on Saturday for a two-day 160 that tied for 40th. Sophomore Drew Lewis (Philadelphia, PA) also scored on both days for Tufts, carding 80 on Saturday and 82 on Sunday.

Salem State University won the tournament by eight strokes with their 592 total. Salem's Nick Zolotas was the individual medalist at one-over-part 143 (71-72).

Tufts plays in the NESCAC Qualifier next weekend at Lyman Orchards Golf Club in Middlefield, Connecticut. The top four finishes will advance to play in the NESCAC Championship next spring.
