KEENE, NH - Keene State's women's swimming & diving team earned a 166-132 victory at home against Tufts on Sunday afternoon.
The Jumbos were able to win just one event against a strong Owls team. Senior diver Ali Maykranz (Jackson, WY) scored best in the three-meter event with 204.10 points for her first collegiate victory.
Tufts scored first-place points in some of the later events which Keene State swam as exhibtions and did not count points towards their team score.
Four Jumbos contributed second-place finishes. First-year Sarah Mahoney (Excelsior, MN) was second in the 1,000 freestyle with an 11:03.94 finish. Sophomore Kathryn Coniglio (Branchburg, NJ) was the runner-up in the 200 freestyle (2:01.23). Junior Jenny Hu (Oakland, CA) recorded a second in the 100 breaststroke with a 1:09.61 touch. Sophomore Samantha Sliwinski (Weymouth, MA) finished the 50 freestyle in 25.42 seconds for second place.
The Keene State women won 15 of the 16 events. Sophomore Diana Pimer was first in the 100 breast (1:08.17), the 200 breast (2:27.74), and the 200 individual medley (2:14.72). Senior Kaila Umbarger and first-years Jennifer French and Amber Long were double-winners for KSC. Umbarger won the 50 free (24.25) and the 100 free (54.05), French won the 500 free (5:13.78) and the 1,000 free (10:49.35), and Long won the 100 fly (1:01.14) and the 200 fly (2:13.25).
Tufts (0-3) will host its first meet of the 2012-13 season against Wellesley on November 28. Keene (3-1) has the Little East Conference championship meet up next at UMass Dartmouth on December 1.
