Dunn's School Record, 8th Place in 400 IM Leads Tufts Women Thursday at NCAA's

INDIANAPOLIS (March 19, 2026) – Tufts University senior Madeleine Dunn earned All-American status for the second straight day while breaking the school record in the 400 individual medley as the NCAA Division III Women's Swimming & Diving Championships continued on Thursday.

Dunn broke her own school record in the 400 IM preliminaries today with a 4:23.04 mark. Her former mark was a 4:24.37 that had stood since 2024. In tonight's finals, she placed eighth with a 4:25.01 time. The eight-place finish is Tufts' best in the NCAA 400 IM in 22 years, since Mika Sumiyoshi was sixth in the event at the 2004 NCAA meet. Dunn earns her 10th career All-American award, and it's a first team (top eight) for the fourth time.

The Jumbo 200 freestyle relay achieved honorable mention All-American recognition tonight as senior Isa Chambers, first-year Alec Lazorisak, junior Sydney Stasz and senior Katharine Skelly placed 12th (1:33.17). They had advanced to the consolation final with a 1;33.39 time in the preliminaries. An honorable mention All-American accolade for all four Tufts swimmers, it gives Chambers four All-American awards in her career (three honorable mention), and it is Lazorisak's first, Stasz's fifth (fourth honorable mention) and Skelly's second (both honorable mention).

Dunn and the 200 free relay combined to score 21 points in the finals tonight, giving Tufts 49 team points through two days at the NCAA meet. They are in 12th place with two days remaining.

The Jumbos had three qualifiers in the 200 freestyle preliminaries which opened Thursday's action. Senior Quinci Wheeler swam 24th (1:51.88), sophomore Noa Chambers was 30th (1:52.50) and Lazorisak took 47th (1:57.94). Noa Chambers' mark was her lifetime best, faster than ever before by 2.45 seconds.

Tufts junior Elena Harrison competed in the 100 butterfly preliminaries this morning. Her time of 55.95 seconds finished in 26th place.

For Friday, Jumbos will be entered in the women's 200 medley relay, 200 butterfly, 100 backstroke, 100 breaststroke and 800 freestyle relay.
