INDIANAPOLIS (March 20, 2026) – The Tufts University women's swimming & diving team collected honorable mention All-American awards in four events at the NCAA Division III Championships at IU Natatorium on Friday.
Tufts first-year
Abby Davis broke the school record in the 100 backstroke and had the best Tufts University finish in the event in more 40 years today. She became the first Tufts All-American in the 100 backstroke since Corinne Schippert in 1984. Davis earned a berth into the consolation final today with her record swim in the preliminaries. Her time of 55.48 seconds erased the former mark of 55.70 set by junior teammate
Elena Harrison last year. Davis was then 15th in the 100 back final in 55.98 seconds to earn the honorable mention All-American accolade. It's her first individual honorable mention
All-American award and her second of the meet, including with the 400 medley relay.
Tufts senior
Quinci Wheeler would earn three All-American awards today, which lifted her career total to 13 (ten honorable mention). She was part of the 200 medley and 800 freestyle relays that raced in consolation finals. Her 1:03.40 time in the 100 breaststroke final was also 13th overall.
The Jumbos had started Friday's action by reaching the consolation final in the 200 medley relay with a 1:42.48 preliminary time. The foursome of Harrison, Wheeler, sophomore
Angel Smyrniou and senior
Katharine Skelly then placed 13th in the final (1:42.45). The finish gives Harrison four career honorable mention All-American awards (two this week), Smyrniou's is her second and Skelly now also has two.
To close Friday, the Jumbo 800 freestyle relay placed 12th with their 7:31.20 time. Senior
Madeleine Dunn, Wheeler, Harrison and sophomore
Sweeney Su made up the honorable mention All-American foursome. Dunn earns her 11th career All-American award, which includes six honorable mention. Harrison's was her second of the day and fifth career. Su's national recognition was the first for her.
The Jumbos have now totaled 73 team points at the NCAA Championship meet, which has them in 13th place.
Other Tufts performances today included Harrison just missing the consolation final in the 200 butterfly with a 17th-place mark (2:04.43). Senior
Madison Hagberg PR'd in the 100 backstroke with a time of 56.29 seconds. Junior
Sydney Stasz in the 100 breaststroke (21st in 1:03.82), sophomore
Noa Chambers in the 100 backstroke (28th in 56.53) and first-year
Cloe Nader in the 200 butterfly (43rd in 2:10.09) also represented the Jumbos.
On the final day of the NCAA Championships on Saturday, Tufts will swim in the 100 freestyle, 200 backstroke, 1650 freestyle and 400 freestyle relay.
