CAMBRIDGE - The Jumbo women's swimming & diving team was second behind host MIT at the Engineers' annual Invitational held on Friday and Saturday. Tufts scored 647 points to place a distant second behind MIT's 1,347 score.
Along with MIT and Tufts, Keene State, Wheaton, Bowdoin, Colby, and Harvard had swimmers and divers competing at the meet.
Senior tri-captain Christine Garvey (West Chester, PA) notched two top-five performances for Tufts at MIT. She placed fifth in the 400 individual medley, coming in with a 4:51.52 time. She also did the 1,650 freetyle in 18:32.34 to take fifth place again.
The highest Tufts finish came from sophomore Jenny Hu (Oakland, CA), who was second in the 100 breaststroke (1:07.86).
Head coach Nancy Bigelow's Jumbos will be back at MIT on January 19 to start the second semester with a dual meet against the Engineers.
