Women's Squash Battles for 8-1 Victory at Vassar College on Sunday

Desen Ozkan overcame an 18-16 loss in the first game at #9 to win her match

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY - In a competitive match at Vassar College, the 23rd ranked Tufts women's squash team won 8-1 against the #27 Brewers on Sunday afternoon. The win was the second straight for Tufts, which improved to 9-12 overall.

Five of the nine matches played to four games, with four won by the Jumbos. At #1, junior Jessica Rubine (Cranston, RI) scored a 12-10 win in the fourth game to take the match. Junior Ushashi Basu (Darien, CT) lost her first game at #7 13-11, but came back to win three straight.

In the eighth match, junior Caitlin Doherty (Topsfield, MA) won in four, and at #9 junior Desen Ozkan (Istanbul, Turkey) had an 18-16 loss in the first game before rallying to win three in a row.

The only Tufts loss came at #6, where Jumbo junior Hafsa Chaudhry (Westwood, MA) was injured and could not continue the match with the scored tied at 2-2.

The last home match and Senior Night will be on Friday at 6:30 versus Wellesley. It will be played at the Belmont Hill School.
