INDIANAPOLIS - The Tufts University women's swimming 200 medley relay foursome of first-year Samantha Sliwinski (Weymouth, MA), sophomore Jenny Hu (Oakland, CA), sophomore Mia Greenwald (Park City, UT) and senior Courtney Adams (Lake Forest, IL) combined to finish 14th at the 2012 NCAA Div. III Swimming & Diving Championships on Wednesday. Their time of 1:47.04 in the final earns honorable mention All-American honors.
The honorable mention awards are the first for each of the Jumbos, who are all first-time NCAA particiants. They had put together at 1:46.45 time in the preliminaries that was 11th best earlier on Wednesday.
With six points scored in the 200 medley relay, the Jumbos are tied for 19th at the national meet after one day.
On Thursday, the four will swim the 200 freestyle relay, Greenwald will be in the 100 butterfly and the group is also in the 400 medley relay. Hu competes in the 100 breaststroke on Friday, and the Tufts team completes their NCAA stay with the 400 freestyle relay on Saturday.
The 2012 NCAA Div. III Championships are at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI).
